Bitcoin Cash, the peer to peer electronic cash system, is under attack and we need your help.

TLDR: Bitcoin Cash, the peer to peer electronic cash system, shifts the dynamics of power from the elites back to the people. This is a threat to the survivability of the banks and regimes seeking to control the masses through the financial system. And there are many direct and indirect evidence (outlined below) of such bad actors trying to sabotage the peer to peer cash revolution through various means. We need your help to stand up against such saboteurs. Unity is our strength when we have to make a righteous stand against the toxic bullies and shifts the power from the elites back into the people hands. Just by speaking up and spreading awareness on this, and refusing to stay silent about it, you’re making a difference, and for that, I thank you.
This is going to be a very long post, please bear with me. And it’s a very long post precisely because the bad actors had tried so many different things to sabotage the peer to peer cash project throughout the years.

The global banking elites control over trillion dollars in assets. They can afford to throw few million dollars each day to protect their massive business empires. If I were them, I would make the same choice. It’s a no brainer. They don’t have to win; each day they sabotage the adoption of peer to peer cash, their trillion dollars empire survive another day while the rest of the population suffers.
There are actually plenty more nasty unethical things BTC bullies had done which is not covered here. Bitcoin Cash is an attempt to rescue what the bad actors had hijacked successfully, mainly the peer to peer cash revolution. And it won't be the last time the bad actors will try to find ways to sabotage this project. And we need your help. Bitcoin Cash does not care if you are black, white, Asian, male, female, American, Iranian, Chinese… We are about bringing economic freedom and financial sovereignty to the world, increasing quality of lives to everyone and putting the power back into the people hands. We are in this together. It can be really uncomfortable being ahead of the crowd in this peer to peer cash revolution, but when you have the truth at your side, all these naysayers screaming “bcash btrash” has little power over us.
Update 1: Fixed an inaccuracy and added few other items which I missed out.

Reminder: Jews have real life time machines and want me to think that particle accelerators are time machines

Helloooooooo, it's me Satan/the devil again. Thought I would post another reminder about the jews having real life time machines which they have been showing off to me using their "media" (mostly).
Here's the documentary again, which I found on amazon primevideo after already coming to the conclusion that particle accelerators might actually be time machines.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0867212/
If particle accelerators are actually time machines, my mother may have actually received a tour of the large hadron collider, because she has been to both France and Switzerland during the same trip and my brother even lives in one of ze countries now. The official reason for her visit was to attend a "patent" conferance. 🤷‍♂️
Dialogue from the Ark Society level of Hitman 2 which mentions "patents" - https://streamable.com/chxs6p
"You see they are sitting on some patents that will knock your socks off."
"Weather control systems."
"Recycling pollution as fuel."
"Cold fusion. You name it."
Satan is naming their time machines too. 🤣
Anyway, she visited one of zose countries again (to visit my brother) and that too without telling me. I told her not to go because of the expensive plane tickets (she has been pretending to be "poor" all these years. well, not THAT poor. "middle class" poor. 🤣). I certainly considered the plane tickets expensive. It cost more than 1 lakh rupees (1,00,000) for a two way trip (which I considered to be a lot at that time). So if I would have gone too, it would have been more than 2 lakh rupees ( rupees are also jewish apparently ). Money that could have been spent on other things (jews have been emailing Satan recently with suggestions like "spend money on experiences, not things". 🤣). Of course, now I think money and the financial system is fake and designed exclusively for Satan but only YOU will know whether that is the case or not. 🤷‍♂️
Oh, and because she was planning on going without telling me, she even agreed to give me some "mummy money" (20,000 rupees) to buy some "pyramid scheme money" (bitcoin) which I then used to buy an antminer s1. Pretty neat pyramid scheme, huh? Has cool miners and everything. 🤣
Anyway because they have time machines, jews not only know what I am "sinking about" right now, but they also know what I will be "sinking about" in the future. 🤣 Check my previous posts and reminders about their mass surveillance tech if you don't know what I am talking about (once again assuming/pretending that everyone in the world doesn't already know who I am and already know about the existence of time machines and other advanced tech). 🤷‍♂️

Moar Satanic Rambling

I mentioned amazon above. They recently VERY actively participated in the "Q psyop" by showing the following riddle to Satan/me in a "riddle quiz" (or whatever you want to call it) that they had in the "fun zone" section of their app. Here's the riddle as I remember it.
"I usually follow Q. But not in QATAR. I come twice in queue. What letter am I?"
I bet they were hoping that I would correctly answer it, but I unintentionally answered it incorrectly as "E". Otherwise it was supposed to be "U". You know, "QU". "Q you". Calling me Q. Q from LGBTQ. 😐
Anyway, I didn't even look at the list of answers properly and had very quickly decided that the answer was "E" because in my mind I imagined the letters going from left to right (in a queue 🤣) and the answer would have been "E" in that case. The letter "E" would have been following "Q". By the way, there is no "E" in any of my real life names but there is one in "JEW". 🤣 Maybe that's why a jewess was pretending to be a bot and other jews were referring to her as EBOT in the Q research 8chan board (mentioned in one of my old posts). They were spelling "ABOT" as "EBOT". 🤣🤷‍♂️
I am also guessing that "QATAR" in the above riddle is supposed to mean something since it was in all caps. "Q a rat" maybe (country names are fake apparently, as I mentioned in my previous post)? Like the rat from the movie Ratatouille? 🤣 Even my mother was once mispronouncing Qatar as "Quatar", and I corrected her saying it's QAtar and not QUatar. But yes, once again, "QU" or "QUA" (Q you, A). 😐 Like I mentioned in my previous post, I now believe she is also a "psyop" participant and she continues to actively participate in the psyop.
Just recently she threw away a pack of masala powder just to make me angry. I had already started cooking when I realized that the pack was missing. At first I thought she may have just hidden it, so I searched everywhere but when I couldn't find it I realized she had mostly likely thrown it away. I am not talking to her at all right now (for obvious reasons 😐) but did manage to indicate that I was angry because of the missing masala powder (not that she didn't already know. it was part of the "plan". trust the plan. 🤣) and she eventually admitted that she had thrown it away, apparently because the pack was "completely open". There were long expired packs of various masala powders lying around (still are) that were actually "completely open" that she didn't bother to throw out but she threw away a brand new pack that I had bought. 🤷‍♂️
Should also mention that everytime I brought up the "psyop", her dialogue was something like, "Internet people are tricksing you-internet people are tricksing you". 🤣🤷‍♂️ "Internet people" are "tricksing" me apparently. 🤣 Well, I am translating but she was using the word "tricks". 🤷‍♂️
I believe I have also figured out what one of my real life names actually means. One is supposed to be calling me an "objectophile" (like "QU". "Objectophile U".) and the other one (the one in my birth certificate, ID cards, etc.) is supposed to mean something like "You are a fool/simpleton, devil". Any jew here willing to confirm? 🤣
Anyway, as jews already know, I think it's okay to be a fool/simpletion but not okay to be evil. Who goes to hell? A fool/simpleton or someone who is evil? <- "Q" style questions. 🤣
As I mentioned in my previous posts, I believe ALL jews are evil. Especially if all of them indeed know who I am and have been watching me all these years. 😐 Someone was even posting on 8chan saying something like, "we are not evil. promise...". Watch a compilation of everything you have done to Satan all these years if in doubt about the fact that you are evil. I am assuming you have recordings. Or did the jewesses who run the jew world delete them from the face of the Earth and are now claiming that some of the things that I have been "sinking" about never happened?
Other than that they have continued to do shit like male genital mutilation and abortions despite having time machines and knowing in advance that Satan will be anti-male genital mutilation and anti-abortion. Assuming that abortion is real of course. I haven't seen it with my own eyes after all (just like my mother says that she DOES NOT believe that god exists just because she hasn't seen god with her own eyes. heard the same thing from others. 🤣). I even remember someone posting pro-abortion shit in the 8chan Q research board. Something along the lines of "if you want to buy a gun, do it. your choice, pro-choice...". How about "if you want to do the apocalypse, do it. your choice pro-choice", hmmm? Besides, jewesses who have had abortions could have "chosen" to not have sex. If abortions are real, I am guessing there are many jewesses out there who have had abortions by the time they were 30.
Satan is 30 years old in his current human form and is a virgin. 🤣 Even the "Virgin" brand is referring to Satan. Yes? Also figured out recently that the "Coca Cola" brand is referring to Satan also. Bought an "(allocacoc)[https://www.allocacoc.com] powercube" and found the name odd initially but realized that it was Coca Cola spelled backwards with an extra "L" and knew it was supposed to mean something. Later saw one of those "coke and mentos" videos on youtube again and finally realized what it is supposed to mean. "Coca Cola" is supposed to be "A Cola Coc". "Cola" is supposed to be "কলা". It's supposed to be referring to Satan's dick. That's why there were those "muh dick-muh dick-muh dick" posts on the 8chan Q research board. Yes? 😐
Anyway, if the "Coca Cola" brand was indeed established in the year stated in wikipedia then it would seem that the jews have had time machines for the past 100 years at least.
I have also realized that "muh dick" is also partially mutilated and my mother lied to me about that also. Claimed to have taken me to the nurse because she noticed "pus" was coming out of my dick and the nurse did some "cutting". Said that there would have been "कष्ट" after marriage otherwise. Had no idea at the time what she was talking about, but perhaps she meant that a lesbian jewess might have found my unmutilated dick "ugly"? 🤣 Watch that "Nip/Tuck" episode#Episodes) and that "South Park" episode defending male genital mutilation if you have no idea what I am talking about.
What if jews force their senior citizen parents to get a face lift, nose job, liposuction, or whatever without anaesthesia? And say shit like "we are only doing it to make you look beautiful so that you don't have any "कष्ट" if you decide to get married/remarried or so that you are invited to more lemon parties"? 🤣 They can use their mind control tech to wipe the memory of the surgery afterwards if necessary (or use roofies if they are real 🤣). Can even invite people to witness the surgery and they can say "mazel tov", "oy vey", or whatever it is they say after a "bris".
Now, I don't know if "brises" are real because I haven't seen one with my own eyes. I have however seen a "fully mutilated" dick when I was a kid (3rd grade). It was in the school (a different school, not the one I mentioned in my previous post) bathroom which was just a "shed" with a drain in it (was the female bathroom also just a shed with a drain in it? There was even a South Park episode about school bathrooms but in their case the bathroom wasn't just a "shed" now, was it? 🤣). Anyway, I assumed that I had seen a catheter "wrapped" around his dick as I had heard about catheters by then but did not know what they looked like or how they worked. I asked the kid why his dick looked different assuming that he would confirm my theory that he was peeing using a catheter. But he replied saying that it's because he is "muslim". It was an odd explanation I thought, and even asked my mother that day and she didn't bother to explain it either.
Even after that incident I didn't know about "male genital mutilation" for years. But eventually "real time" told me. But even then I didn't know that even my dick was partially mutilated but "real time" has now told me about that too. 🤷‍♂️
Well, jews were also posting a "render" (I think) of an unmutilated dick on 8chan and someone on voat replied to a comment of mine saying something like "No one actually knows what an unmutilated dick looks like" which I only recently saw. Could have just said something like, "Your dick is mutilated too, Satan" but whatever. 🤷‍♂️

Video games

Already mentioned a video game above, but will be mentioning moar video games here under this heading. As I mentioned in my previous post, they are also using their time machines when making video games. I also mentioneded that I could be living in a simulation for all I know and you could all be NPCs. Later I remembered a video game that I didn't play just because the story/plot had "simulation" in it. I then checked out the plot again on wikipedia and noticed that it mentions "time travel" also. 🤣
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saints_Row_IV
The game's loyalty missions impact the ending of the story: if a number of these are not completed, the Boss makes plans for the Saints to take over more planets and expand their new empire; however, if all are completed, the Saints learn that they can restore Earth using time-travel, discovering that Zinyak captured several historical figures and placed them in suspended animation. The Boss soon discovers one of them to be 19th century writer Jane Austen, whom they are a fan of, and who reveals herself as the narrator of the game's story once she is awaken her from stasis.
There's also the following DLC where Satan is mentioned. 🤣
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saints_Row:_Gat_out_of_Hell
I have both the game and the DLC in my Steam library but have never played them. I bought them during a sale or something. They were being sold as a bundle (Humble Bundle maybe) but I was only interested in Saints Row The Third.
I should also mention The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game has some cannibal witches who eat kids (they ate grown ups too; they didn't discriminate. 🤣). And the witches were shown to possess "mass surveillance" capabilities, but they were using magic. They would nail human ears to trees or something. Satan chose to free that tree spirit the first time he played that mission but later noticed the tree spirit did not get rid of those "ladies" for some reason. Plot hole?
Anyway, I read right here on /conspiracy that jews apparently eat aborted babies. It was the "Robert David Steele AMA" I believe.
Were you jews hoping to tell me that you don't really eat aborted babies and I only believed it because I am gullible? There was even a South Park episode recently where there was the dialogue "well, we don't eat them...", but they were talking about cows. Were they actually talking about aborted babies? There was also the dialogue "...nobody wants to do it...". Nobody wants to do abortions but do them anyway because jewesses auto-magically get pregnant (like Satan used to think when he was a kid)? Also, there is a dialogue in a "Penny Dreadful") episode where a witch who does abortions and is called a "cut-wife" says something like "this village needs its cut-wife...". Why did the village need a "cut-wife"? Because the jewesses living there were auto-magically getting pregnant even though they didn't have sex? 🤔
Unforuntately for the jewesses who run the jew world (who are no doubt like those "ladies" of the wood), there are also stories like (Hansel and Gretel)[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hansel_and_Gretel]. Even my own mother used to try and scare me when I was a kid saying things like "juju buris (বুড়ি) kidnap kids in burlap sacks..." or something. 🤷‍♂️

TV Shows

Already mentioned TV Shows above, but will mention more here.
I recently remembered the cartoon "Pinky and the Brain" and realized they are also supposed to be depicting Satan. Check out the opening theme and the lyrics - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzZmU0aGmcc
They even show Saturn crashing into Earth during the part where they sing "by the dawning of the sun, they will take over the world". 🤣 There's also "to prove their mousey worth, they will overthrow the earth...". 🤣 Satan is dinky apparently. 🤷‍♂️
At the end of the opening theme there is even the name of an openly-jew jew mentioned ("Steven Spielberg"). If you are a "poor" jew who doesn't know about the existence of time machines and other advanced tech that "rich" jews have, maybe you can ask him what he knows.🤷‍♂️
Also mentioned in my previous posts that I am also supposed to be Jesus and there is this scene from an episode of The Simpsons - https://streamable.com/oumsad
The scene was actually censored when airing on a local TV channel and I even mentioned it to a desi jewess who was "sent" to chat with me. Looking at "muh chatlogs" is how I remembered that scene. 🤣
The jewess was trying to pretend to be psychic or something. She was even telling me about my future which I had totally forgotten about. I did remember that she asked me if I believe in "astral projection". I said no, so she dropped the subject. Otherwise I am guessing she would have claimed to be able to see me using "astral projection" and not because all jews are watching me like Truman from The Truman Show.
I also remember another jewess who was "sent" to chat with me and she was asking me if I had read Harry Potter and knew what a "prophecy" was. When I said yes and used "भविष्यवाणी " to define "prophecy" she dropped the subject. 🤣 She was claiming to be studying to be a psycho-logist and was repeatedly asking me "How do you feel-How do you feel". 🤣 I had no idea what she meant at the time, but now I know (thanks to "real time") that it's just something that psycho-logists say. 🤣 No doubt that was the first thing she learnt at "psycho-logy school". 🤣 Satan is a psycho apparently. 🤣🤷‍♂️
Oh yes, I was talking about The Simpsons. I remember seeing posts right here on /conspiracy speculating whether The Simpsons creators know about the existence of real life time machines because many episodes seem to depict future events. Well, no need to speculate any longer, they do have real life time machines. But it's not just The Simpsons creators. It's all jews. Be it Hollywood, Bollywood, Tollywood, etc. Maybe you can even ask them during comic-con or something if you are a "poor" jew and do not know about the existence of real life time machines.
I now also believe that the boat painting in The Simpsons living room is based on something that Satan painted not long after the shit stick incident. After the shit stick incident that I mentioned in my previous post, my mother agreed to reconnect our TV cable connection on the condition that I attend a religious summer school. That's where I painted a ship which was supposed to be like the ships from Assassins Creed Black Flag. It was supposed to be an art "class" but there was only one and they were like "paint whatever you want to paint". Were they expecting Satan to paint something Satanic? 🤣 I remember the kid next to me was painting an alien. Large sheet of paper but he was painting a small alien in the middle of it leaving the rest of the sheet blank. 🤷‍♂️
Anyway, in case of The Simpsons, the painting is that of "a boat" (wink-wink-nudge-nudge?) but it's very similar to the ship painting that I painted. If you really do not know about the existence of time machines and other advanced tech maybe you can even ask the creators of The Simpsons (in the next comic con or something). You can say something like "a conspiracy nut on /conspiracy claiming to be Satan was also claiming that you have real life time machines and the boat painting is based on something he painted at a religious summer school after a shit stick incident and that you got rid of the Apu character because he wanted The Simpsons cancelled because he got the impression that you were being anti-Trump and pro-Hillary...". 🤣🤷‍♂️
Anyway, there was even a kid at the above mentioned summer school who was pronouncing "cheat codes" incorrectly. He was pronouncing "cheat" as "kheat". Was he acting like the actors from Truman Show and reading his lines from an "eyephone" teleprompter? Or was it intentional? 🤷‍♂️ By the way, the downstairs neighbours' kids were also there in that summer school and they would have at least heard the shit stick incident. Yes? I believe they also knew about the "psyop" and could have told Satan but didn't. How are you jews trained to participate in the "psyop" anyway? Are you sen't to special "psyop schools"? 🤣🤷‍♂️
In one of my previous posts that was deleted by a mod, a jew had commented asking me whether I was a little girl because I had used so many "emojis", so let me mention the cartoon "The Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy" also. All three of the main characters are also supposed to be depicting Satan, including Mandy. Check out her devil horns like hairstyle. 🤣
There is also this song from the show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yui4zkZQwCA
It has the lyrics "if at first they think it's strange, they wont think twice once I've eaten their brains".
Jews thought that if Satan thinks all the evil shit they do is "strange", Satan wont think twice after they manage to figuratively eat his brain? They were also posting this image on 8chan. Yes, Satan has been "fucked by psyops" because physical wounds heal apparently. Not that jews haven't caused physical wounds also but they always end up healing. 🤣

Movies

Scene from the movie "My Favorite Martian" referring to Satan's zipper incident - https://streamable.com/n3e30i
Was four or five years old when it happened. The zipper of the shorts that I was wearing, got stuck on my partially mutilated foreskin. I was crying in pain even though there was no bleeding. Jews most likely have a recording of this incident also (if they haven't deleted). Later the same nurse who most likely mutilated my dick was telling me to wear underpants as if I could conjure them out of thin air.
I didn't wear underpants back then and didn't even for years after that incident. Now I wear "square" underpants, which is why there is "Spongebob Squarepants" (I am also supposed to be Patrick). 🤣
Anyway, jews know about the zipper incident too but are continuing to perform male genital mutilations anyway. Yes? Perhaps they are like, "another benefit of having a fully mutilated dick is that you don't have to worry about zipper issues". 🤣🤷‍♂️

Music

Jews are using their time machines even in the music they produce.
My motorcycle that I mentioned in my previous post was seized by the cops (I used to think that the local cops are useless but now I think that they are just fake) using "Coronavirus" as an excuse. And when recently looking at the details of the "Foghat" album "The Best of Foghat", I noticed the song with the title "Third Time Lucky (First Time I Was A Fool)". I have been to the cops twice to get back my seized motorcycle. First time I went was on April 1 (april fools day). I was planning on not going a third time and just let the fake cops keep my motorcycle. After all, they are jews, the motorcycle was made by jews and even the money I used to buy the motorcycle was "jew money". And I noticed that there is also the song with the title "Take It Or Leave It". 🤣 Oh, and now I see that there is also one with the title "Easy Money". 🤣
The name "Foghat" itself is most likely referring to how Satan's helmet gets foggy sometimes. Yes? 🤔🤷‍♂️
Anyway, wasn't able to pass much time with the bike anyway. It was only making me spend fake jew money on fake expensive fuel. Not to mention the trips to the service center. It needs servicing every three months apparently. So, I am thinking I will leave it with the fake cops. What do you jews think? Is it a good plan? Trust the plan? 🤔
Oh yes, the second time when I went to the cops, they gave me a phone number and asked me to call it (I didn't) and also gave me a fake name when I asked for one. Which I now think is supposed to mean "You are Satan, pal", kinda like that South Park episode about mormonism ("moronism"; Satan is a moron apparently; Amaron) where Cartman was like "My name is Yura, Yura Fag". 🤣 If yes, then here is a message for the fake cop who gave Satan the fake name, "Satan is not your pal, gal". 🤣
Yes, the second time the fake male cops were gone and there were only two jewesses. The male cops are in "isolation" apparently. 🤣 I was wondering if I should have shown them that clip from The Simpsons where Chief Wiggum says something like, "look at my badge. cash bribes only..." because most of them are fat or chubby. And because I used to think that all the local cops were good for was scaring and threatening people and asking for bribes. 🤣 The second time there was only one male cop (a gatekeeper or something, who got brave and was rude to Satan) and this time they made sure that it was not a fat one. 🤣 Anyway, I can make fun of the fake fat cops (many of whom have "pregnant" bellies. men and women are equal so men are also able to get pregnant. those cops were actually pregnant. yes? 🤣) just by "sinking" about it. How cool is that? 🤣
I also remember that South Park episode now where they were calling bikers "fags"). Original air date is 2009 whereas Satan bought his bike in 2019. So yes, you can ask them about the existence of real life time machines and other advanced tech also. 🤷‍♂️
Recently Satan has been passing the time "code monkeying". That's why the 8chan administrator is called "code monkey", yes? I have been playing with "CodeIgniter" and there is "psyopy" content even in the "CodeIgniter" documentation.
use CodeIgniter\Controller;
class Helloworld extends Controller { public function index() { echo 'Hello World!'; }
public function comment() { echo 'I am not flat!'; } }
Yeah, the world is not flat apparently but since I haven't seen it with my own eyes I probably should not believe that it's round. Yes? 🤣🤷‍♂️
Well it doesn't really matter if the world is round or "flat". What matters is that if everyone in the world knows me then unfortunately for you, you are all evil. And it's actually more unfortunate for you if you are not NPCs. You know what I am sayin'?
By the way, is Satan's "Mann ki Baat" being broadcast to everyone in the world uncensored or should he write down more of his "mann ki baat"? 🤔 Like how he has been "sinking" to Ubisoft whether the "apocalypse" comes under "everything is permitted". Feel free to comment here with your reply Ubisoft.
Mind-wiped Satan now thinks total apocalypse (get it? total apocalypse. kinda like total eclipse but apocalypse instead of eclipse) is necessary and since he is addicted to TV shows, movies, video games and the internet apparently (all jew media), it would be the unselfish thing to do (assuming it's up to him to do the apocalypse). Yes?
Satan has been trying to be "sober" though. No TV shows, movies or video games for the past two months. Did not renew his 100mbps internet connection either. Let's see how long the lockdown can continue. 🤣🤷‍♂️
It's Saturday and Satan managed to spend hours writing the above post. 🤣

Groestlcoin 6th Anniversary Release

Introduction

Dear Groestlers, it goes without saying that 2020 has been a difficult time for millions of people worldwide. The groestlcoin team would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone our best to everyone coping with the direct and indirect effects of COVID-19. Let it bring out the best in us all and show that collectively, we can conquer anything.
The centralised banks and our national governments are facing unprecedented times with interest rates worldwide dropping to record lows in places. Rest assured that this can only strengthen the fundamentals of all decentralised cryptocurrencies and the vision that was seeded with Satoshi's Bitcoin whitepaper over 10 years ago. Despite everything that has been thrown at us this year, the show must go on and the team will still progress and advance to continue the momentum that we have developed over the past 6 years.
In addition to this, we'd like to remind you all that this is Groestlcoin's 6th Birthday release! In terms of price there have been some crazy highs and lows over the years (with highs of around $2.60 and lows of $0.000077!), but in terms of value– Groestlcoin just keeps getting more valuable! In these uncertain times, one thing remains clear – Groestlcoin will keep going and keep innovating regardless. On with what has been worked on and completed over the past few months.

UPDATED - Groestlcoin Core 2.18.2

This is a major release of Groestlcoin Core with many protocol level improvements and code optimizations, featuring the technical equivalent of Bitcoin v0.18.2 but with Groestlcoin-specific patches. On a general level, most of what is new is a new 'Groestlcoin-wallet' tool which is now distributed alongside Groestlcoin Core's other executables.
NOTE: The 'Account' API has been removed from this version which was typically used in some tip bots. Please ensure you check the release notes from 2.17.2 for details on replacing this functionality.

How to Upgrade?

Windows

ALL NEW - Groestlcoin Moonshine iOS/Android Wallet

Built with React Native, Moonshine utilizes Electrum-GRS's JSON-RPC methods to interact with the Groestlcoin network.
GRS Moonshine's intended use is as a hot wallet. Meaning, your keys are only as safe as the device you install this wallet on. As with any hot wallet, please ensure that you keep only a small, responsible amount of Groestlcoin on it at any given time.

ALL NEW! – HODL GRS Android Wallet

HODL GRS connects directly to the Groestlcoin network using SPV mode and doesn't rely on servers that can be hacked or disabled.
HODL GRS utilizes AES hardware encryption, app sandboxing, and the latest security features to protect users from malware, browser security holes, and even physical theft. Private keys are stored only in the secure enclave of the user's phone, inaccessible to anyone other than the user.
Simplicity and ease-of-use is the core design principle of HODL GRS. A simple recovery phrase (which we call a Backup Recovery Key) is all that is needed to restore the user's wallet if they ever lose or replace their device. HODL GRS is deterministic, which means the user's balance and transaction history can be recovered just from the backup recovery key.

ALL NEW! – GroestlcoinSeed Savior

Groestlcoin Seed Savior is a tool for recovering BIP39 seed phrases.
This tool is meant to help users with recovering a slightly incorrect Groestlcoin mnemonic phrase (AKA backup or seed). You can enter an existing BIP39 mnemonic and get derived addresses in various formats.
To find out if one of the suggested addresses is the right one, you can click on the suggested address to check the address' transaction history on a block explorer.

ALL NEW! – Vanity Search Vanity Address Generator

NOTE: NVidia GPU or any CPU only. AMD graphics cards will not work with this address generator.
VanitySearch is a command-line Segwit-capable vanity Groestlcoin address generator. Add unique flair when you tell people to send Groestlcoin. Alternatively, VanitySearch can be used to generate random addresses offline.
If you're tired of the random, cryptic addresses generated by regular groestlcoin clients, then VanitySearch is the right choice for you to create a more personalized address.
VanitySearch is a groestlcoin address prefix finder. If you want to generate safe private keys, use the -s option to enter your passphrase which will be used for generating a base key as for BIP38 standard (VanitySearch.exe -s "My PassPhrase" FXPref). You can also use VanitySearch.exe -ps "My PassPhrase" which will add a crypto secure seed to your passphrase.
VanitySearch may not compute a good grid size for your GPU, so try different values using -g option in order to get the best performances. If you want to use GPUs and CPUs together, you may have best performances by keeping one CPU core for handling GPU(s)/CPU exchanges (use -t option to set the number of CPU threads).

ALL NEW! – Electrum Personal Server

Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server aims to make using Electrum Groestlcoin wallet more secure and more private. It makes it easy to connect your Electrum-GRS wallet to your own full node.
It is an implementation of the Electrum-grs server protocol which fulfils the specific need of using the Electrum-grs wallet backed by a full node, but without the heavyweight server backend, for a single user. It allows the user to benefit from all Groestlcoin Core's resource-saving features like pruning, blocks only and disabled txindex. All Electrum-GRS's feature-richness like hardware wallet integration, multi-signature wallets, offline signing, seed recovery phrases, coin control and so on can still be used, but connected only to the user's own full node.
Full node wallets are important in Groestlcoin because they are a big part of what makes the system be trust-less. No longer do people have to trust a financial institution like a bank or PayPal, they can run software on their own computers. If Groestlcoin is digital gold, then a full node wallet is your own personal goldsmith who checks for you that received payments are genuine.
Full node wallets are also important for privacy. Using Electrum-GRS under default configuration requires it to send (hashes of) all your Groestlcoin addresses to some server. That server can then easily spy on your transactions. Full node wallets like Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server would download the entire blockchain and scan it for the user's own addresses, and therefore don't reveal to anyone else which Groestlcoin addresses they are interested in.
Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can also broadcast transactions through Tor which improves privacy by resisting traffic analysis for broadcasted transactions which can link the IP address of the user to the transaction. If enabled this would happen transparently whenever the user simply clicks "Send" on a transaction in Electrum-grs wallet.
Note: Currently Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can only accept one connection at a time.

I literally have tens of thousands of dollars in top-shelf hardware, looking to repurpose some before selling on eBay to build a NAS system, possibly a dedicated firewall device as well. o_O

Q1) What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.**

A1) This will be a dedicated NAS system for my home network. As such, I'm looking to have it:

- Host ##TB's of 720, 1080 & up resolution Movies and TV Shows I'm about to begin ripping from a MASSIVE DVD & Blueray collection I have.

- My kids are big on Minecraft. I understand it's possible to host your own "worlds" (or whatever they call the maps you can build) on your own "server". I think it would be pretty neat to offer them (& their friends - if can be done 'safely/securely') their own partition on one of my NAS HDD's.

- I also have accounts with a couple diff VPN companies... I understand it's possible (?) to sync said VPN's with a NAS, this might be a more relative topic on the next point/purpose...

- I'd like to be able to remotely link to this NAS for when I travel overseas and want to stream at my temp location from my house/this NAS.
______________________
Q2) What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?**

* A2) Here's where I make matters more complicated than most others would... I've been an advocate for Bitcoin and crypto-currencies in general since 2013. I invested in a small mining outfit back in 2014 (strictly Bitcoin/ASIC's). One of my buddies is the President of a large-scale mining operation (foreign and domestic) and he convinced me to dabble in the GPU mining-space. I made my first hardware purchase in Q4, 2017 and launched a small-scale GPU-Farm in my house since then. I had the rigs mining up until Q3 of 2018 (not cost-efficient to keep on, especially living in SoFlo) and since then, the hardware's been collecting dust (& pissing off my family members since they lost access to 3X rooms in the house - I won't let anyone go near my gear). One of my New Years Resolutions for 2019 was to clear out the house of all my mining equipment so that's all about to go up on eBay. So "budget" is relative to whatever I "MUST" spend if I can't repurpose any of the parts I already have on hand for this build... (Anyone having something I "need" and is looking to barter for one of the items I'll list later on in here, LMK).
______________________
Q3) When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.**

A3) IMMEDIATELY! :)
______________________
Q4) What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc\)**

A4) Well I had a half-assed idea approximately 1 year ago that it might be wise to build a bunch of 'gaming rigs' to sell on eBay with my intended repurposed mining hardware so I went on a shopping spree for like 6 months. That said; I've got a plethora of various other components that aren't even unboxed yet. 90% of the items I've purchased for this additional project were items that were marked down via MIR (mail-in-rebates) & what-not...
AFAIK, there are only 3X items I absolutely do not have which I 'MUST' find. Those would be - 1) Motherboard which accepts "ECC RAM". 2) CPU for said MOBO. 3) Said "ECC RAM".\*
______________________
Q5) Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?**

A5) I'm located in Southwest Florida. No Microcenter's here. Best Buy is pretty much my only option although I am a member of Newegg, Amazon & Costco if that makes any difference?
______________________
Q6) If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.**

A6) In an attempt to better clean up this Q&A, I'm going to list the items I have on-hand at the end of this questionnaire in-case passers-by feel like this might be a TLDR.* (Scroll to the bottom & you'll see what I mean).
______________________
Q7) Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?**

A7) I don't think that's necessary for my intended purpose although - I'm not against it if that helps & FWIW, I'm pretty skilled @ this task already (it's not rocket science).
______________________
Q8) Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)**

A8) As stated in A4; ECC RAM is non-negotiable... RAID seems like a logical application here as well.

- This will predominantly be receiving commands from MacOS computers. I don't think that matters really but figured it couldn't hurt to let you guys know.\*

- I'd also be quite fond of implementing "PFSENSE" (or something of that caliber) applied to this system so I could give my Netgear Nighthawks less stress in that arena, plus my limited understanding of PFSENSE is that it's ability to act as a firewall runs circles around anything that comes with consumer-grade Wi-Fi routers (like my Nighthawks). Just the same, I'm open to building a second rig just for the firewall.\*

- Another desirable feature would be that it draws as little electricity from the wall as possible. (I'm EXTREMELY skilled in this arena. I have "Kill-A-Watts" to test/gauge on, as well as an intimate understanding of the differences between Silver, Gold, Platinum and Titanium rated PSU's. As well as having already measured each of the PSU's I have on-hand and taken note of the 'target TDP draw' ("Peak Power Efficiency Draw") each one offers when primed with X amount of GPU's when I used them for their original purpose.\*

- Last, but not least, sound (as in noise created from the rig). I'd like to prop this device up on my entertainment center in the living room. I've (almost) all of the top-shelf consumer grade products one could dream of regarding fans and other thermal-related artifacts.

- Almost forgot; this will be hosting to devices on the KODI platform (unless you guys have better alternative suggestions?)
______________________
Q9) Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?**

A9) Definitely! Desired theme would be WHITE. If that doesn't work for whatever reason, black or gray would suffice. Regarding "Case Size". Nah, that's not too important although I don't foresee a mini-ITX build making sense if I'm going to be cramming double digit amounts of TB in the system, Internal HDD's sounds better than a bunch of externals plugged in all the USB ports.
______________________
Q10) Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?**

A10) I don't know. If I do need a copy of Windows, I don't have one so that's something I'll have to consider I guess. I doubt that's a necessity though.

Needless to say, I have at least 1X of everything mentioned above. In most all cases, I have multiples of these items but obviously won't be needing 2X CPU's, Cases, etc...

Naturally, I have GPU's. Specifically;

At least 1X of every. Single. NVIDIA GTX 1070 TI (Yes, I have every variation of the 1070 ti made by MSI, EVGA and Zotac. The only brand I don't have is the Gigabyte line. My partners have terrible experience with those so I didn't even bother. I'm clearly not going to be needing a GPU for this build but again, I'm cool with discussing the idea of a barter if anyone reading this is in the market for one.

I also have some GTX 1080 TI's but those are already spoken for, sorry.

It's my understanding that select CPU's I have on this list are ECC Friendly and AFAIK, only 1 of my MOBO's claims to be ECC Friendly (The ASROCK AB350M PRO4), but for the life of me, I can't find any corresponding forums that confirm this and/or direct me to a listing where I can buy compatible RAM. Just the same, if I go w/ the ASROCK MOBO, that means I'd be using one of the Ryzens. Those are DEF. power hungry little buggers. Not a deal-breaker, just hoping to find something a little more conservative in terms of TDP.

In closing, I don't really need someone to hold my hand with the build part as much as figuring out which motherboard, CPU and RAM to get. Then I'm DEFINITELY going to need some guidance on what OS is best for my desired purpose. If building 2X Rigs makes sense, I'm totally open to that as well...
Rig 1 = EPIC NAS SYSTEM
Rig 2 = EPIC PFSENSE (or the like) DEDICATED FIREWALL

Oh, I almost forgot... The current routers I'm using are...
1X Netgear Nighthawk 6900P (Modem + Router)
1X Netgear Nighthawk X6S (AC 4000 I believe - Router dedicated towards my personal devices - no IoT &/or Guests allowed on this one)
1X TP-Link Archer C5 (Router). Total overkill after implementing the Nighthawks but this old beast somehow has the best range, plus it has 2X USB ports so for now, it's dedicated towards my IoT devices.
---- I also have a few other Wi-Fi routers (Apple Airport Extreme & some inferior Netgear's but I can only allocate so many WiFi Routers to so many WiFi channels w/out pissing off my neighbors) On that note, I have managed to convince my neighbors to let me in their house/WiFi configuration so we all have our hardware locked on specific, non-competing frequencies/channels so everyone's happy. :)

Please spare me the insults as I insulted myself throughout this entire venture. Part of why I did this was because when I was a kid, I used to fantasize about building a 'DREAM PC' but could never afford such. To compensate for this deficiency, I would actually print out the latest and greatest hardware components on a word document, print the lists up & tape to wall (for motivation). I was C++ certified at the age of 14 and built my first PC when I was 7. At the age of 15 I abandoned all hope in the sector and moved on to other aspirations. This entire ordeal was largely based off me finally fulfilling a childhood fantasy. On that note = mission accomplished. Now if I'm actually able to fulfill my desires on this post, I'm definitely going to feel less shitty about blowing so much money on all this stuff over the last couple years.

TIA for assisting in any way possible. Gotta love the internets!

THE END.
:)

EDIT/UPDATE (5 hours after OP) - My inbox is being inundated with various people asking for prices and other reasonable questions about my hardware being up for sale. Not to be redundant but rather to expound on my previous remarks about 'being interested in a bartetrade' with any of you here...

I did say I was going to sell my gear on eBay in the near future, I also said I wanted to trade/barter for anything relative to helping me accomplish my OP's mission(s). I'm not desperate for the $$$ but I'm also not one of those people that likes to rip other people off. That said; I value my time and money invested in this hardware and I'm only willing to unload it all once I've established I have ZERO need for any of it here in my home first. Hence my writing this lengthy thread in an attempt to repurpose at least a grand or two I've already spent.

One of the most commonly asked questions I anticipate receiving from interested bodies is going to be "How hard were you on your hardware?" Contrary to what anyone else would have probably done in my scenario which is say they were light on it whether they were or weren't, I documented my handling of the hardware, and have no problem sharing such documentation with verified, interested buyers (WHEN THE TIME COMES) to offer you guys peace of mind.

I have photo's and video's of the venture from A-Z. I am also obliged to provide (redacted) electricity bill statements where you can correlate my photo's (power draw on each rig), and also accurately deduct the excess power my house consumed with our other household appliances. Even taking into consideration how much (more) I spent in electricity from keeping my house at a constant, cool 70-72F year-round (via my Nest thermostat). Even without the rigs, I keep my AC @ 70 when I'm home and for the last 1.5-2 years, I just so happened to spend 85% of my time here at my house. When I would travel, I'd keep it at 72 for my wife & kids.
Additionally; I had each GPU 'custom' oveunderclocke'd (MSI Afterburner for all GPU's but the EVGA's).*
I doubt everyone reading this is aware so this is for those that don't.... EVGA had the brilliant idea of implementing what they call "ICX technology" in their latest NVIDIA GTX GPU's. The short(est) explanation of this "feature" goes as follows:

EVGA GPU's w/ "ICX 9 & above" have EXTRA HEAT/THERMAL SENSORS. Unlike every other GTX 1070 ti on the market, the one's with this feature actually have each of 2/2 on-board fans connected to individual thermal sensors. Which means - if you were to use the MSI Afterburner program on one of these EVGA's and create a custom fan curve for it, you'd only be able to get 1/2 of the fans to function the way intended. The other fan simply would not engage as the MSI Afterburner software wasn't designed/coded to recognize/ communicate with an added sensor (let alone sensor'S). This, in-turn, would likely result in whoever's using it the unintended way having a GPU defect on them within the first few months I'd imagine... Perhaps if they had the TDP power settings dumbed down as much as I did (60-63%), they might get a year or two out of it since it wouldn't run as near as hot, but I doubt any longer than that since cutting off 50% of the cooling system on one of these can't be ignored too long, surely capacitors would start to blow and who knows what else...
(Warning = RANT) Another interesting side-note about the EVGA's and their "Precision-X" OveUnderclocking software is that it's designed to only recognize 4X GPU's on a single system. For miners, that's just not cool. My favorite builds had 8X and for the motherboards that weren't capable of maintaining stable sessions on 8, I set up with 6X. Only my EVGA Rigs had 3 or 4X GPU's dedicated to a single motherboard. Furthermore, and as stated in an earlier paragraph, (& this is just my opinion) = EVGA SOFTWARE SUCKS! Precision X wasn't friendly with every motherboard/CPU I threw at it and their extension software for the CLC Close-Loop-Cooling/ CPU water-coolers simply didn't work on anything, even integrating into their own Precision-X software. The amount of time it took me to finally find compatible matches with that stuff was beyond maddening. (END RANT).
Which leads me to my other comments on the matter. That's what I had every single 1070 ti set at for TDP = 60-63%. Dropping the power load that much allowed me to bring down (on average) each 1070 ti to a constant 110-115W (mind you, this is only possible w/ "Titanium" rated PSU's, Platinum comes pretty damn close to the Titanium though) while mining Ethereum and was still able to maintain a bottom of 30 MH/s and a ceiling of 32 MH/s. Increasing the TDP to 80, 90, 100% or more only increased my hashrates (yields) negligibly, like 35-36 MH/s TOPS, which also meant each one was not only pulling 160-180W+ (Vs. the aforementioned 115'ish range), it also meant my rigs were creating a significantly greater amount of heat! Fortunately for the GPU's and my own personal habits, I live in South Florida where it's hot as balls typically, last winter was nothing like this one. Increasing my yields by 10-15% didn't justify increasing the heat production in my house by >30%, nor the added electricity costs from subjecting my AC handlers to that much of an extra work-load. For anyone reading this that doesn't know/understand what I'm talking about - after spending no less than 2-3 hours with each. and. every. one. I didn't play with the settings on just one and universally apply the settings to the rest. I found the 'prime' settings and documented them with a label-maker and notepad. Here's the math in a more transparent manner:

*** I NEVER LET MY GPU's BREACH 61C, EVER. Only my 8X GPU rigs saw 60-61 & it was the ones I had in the center of the build (naturally). I have REALLY high power fans (used on BTC ASIC MINERS) that were sucking air from those GPU's which was the only way I was able to obtain such stellar results while mining with them. **\*
Mining at "acceptable" heat temps (not acceptable to me, but most of the internet would disagree = 70C) and overclocking accordingly brings in X amount of yields per unit. =
'Tweaking' (underclocking) the GPU's to my parameters reduced my yield per unit from -10-15%, but it SAVED me well over 30-35% in direct electricity consumption, and an unknown amount of passive electricity consumption via creating approximately 20%+ less heat for my AC handler to combat.

I say all this extra stuff not just for anyone interested in mining with their GPU's, but really to answer (in-depth) the apparent questions you people are asking me in PM's. Something else that should help justify my claims of being so conservative should be the fact I only have/used "Platinum and Titanium" rated PSU's. Heat production, power efficiency and longevity of the hardware were ALWAYS my top priority.* . I truly thought Crypto would continue to gain and/or recover and bounce back faster than it did. If this project had maintained positive income for 12 months+, I'd have expanded one of our sites to also cater to GPU mining on a gnarly scale.

Once I have my NAS (& possibly 2nd rig for the firewall) successfully built, I'll be willing/able to entertain selling you guys some/all of the remaining hardware prior to launching on eBay. If there's something you're specifically looking for that I listed having, feel free to PM me with that/those specific item(s). Don't count on an immediate response but what you can count on is me honoring my word in offering whoever asks first right of refusal when the time comes for me to sell this stuff. Fortunately for me, PM's are time-stamped so that's how I'll gauge everyone's place in line. I hope this extra edit answers most of the questions you guys wanted to have answered and if not, sorry I guess. I'll do my best to bring light to anything I've missed out on after I realize whatever that error was/is. The only way anyone is getting first dibs on my hardware otherwise is if they either offer compelling insight into my original questions, or have something I need to trade w/.

A call to action from a future Validator

Hi there,
I wanted to explain an idea I have been stewing on for over a year now and hope to present a compelling business case for what is and why I feel this is urgent. Let me preface this by giving you a bit about me: I have been involved in cryptocurrency (investing/using & playing in the ecosystem) since 2013. I joined the Ethereum community in 2016 and have for the most part silently observed the traction over the years. My long-term plans involve becoming a validator, with a timeframe measured in decades. My mindset is I’m in this for the long haul and don’t care for parlour tricks or anything that doesn’t actually drive true growth. I told myself for the longest time my voice wouldn’t matter, because other people are making decisions. However my call-to-action is seeing what, and most importantly, why, things need to change for the longevity and growth of this network and by seeing others beginning to speak up about the issues we face today I am encouraged to do the same instead of continually lurking in the background. I now understand tackling these decisions today will only make us stronger in the long-run. So yes, let’s figure that out as a community — but let’s not get ahead of ourselves and let me begin by explaining the what and why.
What I want as a future Validator:
I want to give up a % of my block reward as a validator to a DAO/community led fund that’s sole purpose is to sustain/implement core protocol research/audits & development. Honestly, I am absolutely begging for this to happen and for us to get our heads out of the sand and to realize how important this is. Simply: Let me give up a slice of my reward, so that my remaining slice is in turn even more valuable long term.
Why do I want to give up a % of my reward as a future Validator:
Let me be blunt and transparent: Because when I put on my investor hat you’re right I DO want my actual ether to be worth something more than what it would be than if I didn’t do this as a validator. I’m not doing this out of pure altruism, I am doing this because I can see this will be better both for the health and growth of our network long run and thus in turn my bottom line. Let’s not split hairs here: Yes, I do genuinely believe in decentralization & the spirit of this community and that’s what brought me here a few years ago. But let’s also not pretend investment and opportunity cost do not matter. The money I have in Ethereum today (which I’ve held through thick and thin: the DAO hack and from $1400->$82, and will continue to do so) matters to me and I’d like to see it worth more tomorrow and in 3,5,12 years than it is today. So let me break down how this reward cut accomplishes it. Here is my thesis point-by-point:
1.) There are public services on Ethereum that would benefit from being built as a greater good, yet right now there are no ‘true’ incentives for them to be built and/or are underfunded by grants. Instead we see mostly ICO’s trying to build on top of the protocol to capture that value or teams switching last minute and adding immense friction by doing an ICO/token model (ie: Raiden) to do so. Let me be clear here: I don’t blame developers for this — they’re just reacting to the reality of the market. It’s on us to provide the proper incentives for them to actually build the tooling and infrastructure we all need for tomorrow.
2.) The stronger the protocol, the more likely people will in turn build more on top of it. For 2016-2018 it was clear Ethereum had the best developer mindshare. Well now there is competition and we need to get our act together. By doing so, there will be more platform “confidence” as developers/users know this protocol has a sustainable path towards research, innovation. As an investor, we care about this too. This is what keeps me up at night when I think about how to allocate my capital in this space. Who or what platform actually gets this?
3.) The true driver of the price of Ether is largely a derivative of the mindshare/talent working on the base layer. Like Microsoft in the 90s said: It’s all about the developers. Let’s not only keep the best talent working in our ecosystem and stop slippage to competitors, but also grow our development velocity at a faster rate. We need to give them more support. Based on the velocity and pushbacks I would say they’re likely underappreciated, underpaid and overworked for the most part. It’s a high pressure job and mostly thankless; we need to correct this and ensure they’re here with us for the long run, while ideally adding even more to the core team so we can ensure deadlines get hit in the future.
4.) More useful things being built on L1/protocol = drawing in even more L2 architecture/talent building in our ecosystem = more developers building better things with better tooling/security and infrastructure = more transactions & usage of the network = this drives growth in all key stakeholders in our ecosystem = more validator rewards for people like myself. This is simply a positive feedback loop, but we need the catalyst to start it.
More Information:
I can hear some skeptics say right now: Well why don’t you just send your own ether in as a contribution to any of these underfunded teams? Because I alone can’t do this and that isn’t a 5+ year solution. I alone can’t plug all these holes. What are these holes? Underfunded teams, developers choosing to do useless ICO’s (not all, but most IMO) instead of developing public protocol infrastructure we so desperately need, or worse yet they’re leaving to go work on competitors who can promise them better terms. In fact, why would you stick around? My research shows me you’re likely being paid below market rate (sorry this is also an uncomfortable truth, and it bothers me because I want these developers to be paid their market rate at the very minimum), and you can go join a new rock star team and try to develop/capture value from the ground floor through genesis tokens on Blockchain 5.0 project or whatever. In fact, when Vitalik graciously sent out grants a few months ago, I didn’t get a warm fuzzy feeling, but was filled with dread. This issue was clearly bubbling to the surface, I was very happy for those teams who received it, but I was thinking how inefficient this is that we have to rely on altruism from whales or early winners to make this happen. That, in my books is not sustainable to continue to be the clear leader for innovation in this increasingly crowded space. That’s not a recipe for meeting project deadlines, it’s simply unsorted chaos and a tragedy of the commons on our part.
How would this work?
I envision this happening during Eth 2.0 switch to the Beacon Chain when PoS comes online. I doubt we can implement an EIP for this to happen with PoW, but let’s remember here: miners, while providing a service, are only a stop-gap for the real long term solution — which is PoS. PoS is people like me, who want to bet on the future of this network and here I am saying yes let me take less because in the end, honestly, I want more -- both in the value of my rewards for staking and for the actual value I believe the Ethereum platform can deliver in the future. It’s the validators of tomorrow, not the miners of today we have to convince. So how does this actually work? I don’t have all the details and this posts scratches more on the what & why. For how: ideally we can create an EIP with the details/mechanics on how to divert some portion of the staking reward that can be implemented right at the start of when we switch to PoS. We get community support and this happens.
Brief closing thoughts
What drew me to Ethereum community in the first place was the excitement & energy along with the ethos of experimentation and knowing this would be a bold risk. It drew in so much talent, energy, and developers even from the Bitcoin community who some way understood why this might be meaningful. I feel like Ethereum has almost kind of “frozen up” in a scared of your own shadow this last year or so. To me the spirit of Ethereum is innovation, forging forward and the ability to adapt and react. Well reality has come: We are experiencing some major talent slippage (to icos and various other projects) and other 3.0 projects are coming online, & honestly some of them looking quite promising. I don’t want Ethereum to compete on “brand” or anything like that, I want Ethereum to continue to be the go-to if a developer wants a true decentralized sandbox to develop, nurture and incubate applications and ideas that will shape the world. We’ll need more tooling for eWasm. We’ll need more developers to audit code & build 1.X Eth & tooling to help switch 1.0 Dapps to 2.0 when that time comes. We’ll need more base layer infrastructure to help onboard and integrate software engineers from outside the blockchain world seamlessly. We need to pay them what they’re worth, and let them know that when they’re building the scaffolding for Eth 2.0 that they actually have a runway of funds & we have their back. We’ll need better UX, L2 scaling, formalized standards, wallets and general applications to run on top of the chain and so much more. What we really need is to show we can reach consensus here and do the sensible thing.
Thank you for listening and I appreciate any comments/insights any of you may have.

An open letter to Erik Voorhees

Dear Erik
I am writing to you because I think you value user financial sovereignty and therefore I do have some hope, I think you can be persuaded to change your mind and support user sovereignty. I kindly ask that you leave the NYA, and support an alternative hardfork proposal that, respects the rights of users to choose.
Bitcoin is fundamentally a user currency, individual users are sovereign and free to decide to opt-in to Bitcoin. Governments, businesses, miners or developers cannot impose changes on Bitcoin users. Ultimately users are the final decision makers when it comes to hardforks. Individual users are able to verify all the rules and reject coins that do not comply. This is what provides the financial sovereignty. If users do not do or cannot do this, financial sovereignty is lost and Bitcoin then has no unique or interesting characteristics compared to the US Dollar. It is naive to think that if individual users do not verify and enforce the rules, that one day a government won’t influence major ecosystem players and impose changes on users from above. This has happened time and time again in history and the ability of individual users to enforce the rules is the only hope Bitcoin has of being resilient against the eventual government threat.
The current NYA client does not share the above philosophy. The plan of most NYA proponents is to get most miners and businesses to upgrade to 2x. Once this is done, the new coin will launch and the plan is to prevent the old chain moving forward, since the miners would have all upgraded to 2x. We know this is the plan, since 2x transactions are valid on the original chain and vice versa, therefore if the original chain survives, it will lead to a total mess with users losing funds as their transactions are replayed. This plan is unrealistic, and history has shown that if there is an active community of supporters, the minority hashrate chain will survive (for example with ETC and Bitcoin Cash). Leaving aside how unrealistic and delusional this plan is, the point is that it doesn’t respect user rights to choose and instead attempts to force users to upgrade to the new 2x chain.
You mention that there are only a few thousand people on /Bitcoin who oppose 2x and that the majority support it. These few thousand people on /bitcoin are the Bitcoin community, as are the few thousand people on /btc who support Bitcoin Cash. This is the community and these people deserve to be given the freedom to use the coin of their choice. The silent hundreds of thousands people who use or invest in Bitcoin, do not care about 2x, Core, 1MB blocks or 8MB blocks. They do not run verifying nodes, nor do they have the passion, technical expertise, tenacity or philosophy necessary to ensure Bitcoin succeeds. I kindly ask you to respect the few thousand people on /bitcoin and /btc and let them have their coins. This is the Bitcoin community that matters, not the hundreds of thousands who are silent on this issue, which you assume support you. Disrespecting these groups as insignificant, just because they are small in number relative to the hundreds of thousands of new users, is not a productive or effective way forward.
I hope now you appreciate more what this whole debate is about. It cannot be solved by a compromise on the blocksize, to focus so much on the blocksize is missing the point. Above all it’s about respecting user rights to choose. I think you value the financial sovereignty of the individual user and I think you understand why this is the only thing that really makes Bitcoin special.
Therefore once again, I kindly ask you to abandon the NYA and join us in supporting a hardfork that respects the rights of individual users to choose. This means the new hardfork chain should have a new better transaction format which is invalid on the original chain and vice versa. If we are patient and give wallet developers and users time, they will upgrade. The few thousand people opposing 2x now on /bitcoin may also upgrade. We would then have hardforked to larger blocks and individual users would be given the freedom to decide to make this new token the one true Bitcoin. At the very least, I ask that you do me one small favor, please explain to me what is wrong with this respectful approach?
Kind Regards
A Bitcoin user

Holy shit! Greg Maxwell and Peter Todd both just ADMITTED and AGREED that NO solution has been implemented for the "SegWit validationless mining" attack vector, discovered by Peter Todd in 2015, exposed again by Peter Rizun in his recent video, and exposed again by Bitcrust dev Tomas van der Wansem.

UPDATE - Below is an ELI5 (based on a comment below by u/cryptorebel, and another comment below by u/H0dl) of this silent-but-deadly, ledger-corrupting novel attack vector which will inevitably happen on the Bitcoin SegWit fork (but which can never happen on the Bitcoin Cash fork - because Bitcoin Cash does not use SegWit for this very reason, because all the smart people already know that SegWit is not Bitcoin):
ELI5:
Basically miners can be incentivized to mine without validating all of the data. Currently this problem already happens without SegWit, but there exists a Nash Equilibrium (from game theory), where the incentives make sure that this problem does not get out of hand - because currently if the percentage of "validationless miners" gets too high, then (in the system as it is now), validationless mining becomes unprofitable, and easy to attack.
But SegWit would significantly change these incentives. SEPARATING THE SEGWIT DATA FROM THE BLOCKCHAIN ENLARGES THE PROBLEM, RESULTING IN a change to the Nash Equilibrium and AN UNSTABLE AND LESS SECURE SYSTEM where miners are encouraged to do validationless mining at higher rates.
For example, if 20% of smaller struggling miners are incentivized to perform validationless mining, an attacking miner with as little as 31% hash could suddenly also "go validationless" (because 20% + 31% = 51%), forking the network back to pre-SegWit-as-a-soft-fork and stealing "Anyone-Can-Spend" transactions, causing mass confusion and havoc.
In fact, as Peter Rizun pointed out below: WITH SEGWIT THERE WOULD NOT EVEN BE ANY PROOF THAT THE THEFT HAD ACTUALLY OCCURRED. Meanwhile, with Satoshi's original Bitcoin (now renamed Bitcoin Cash to distinguish it from Core's "enhanced" version of Bitcoin incorporating SegWit), proof of the theft would at least exist in the blockchain. This highlights Peter Rizun's main assertion that SEGWIT BITCOIN HAS A MUCH WEAKER "SECURITY MODEL" THAN SATOSHI'S ORIGINAL BITCOIN - a scathing condemnation of SegWit which Blockstream CTO Greg Maxwell is apparently unable to rebut.
Greg Maxwell made some inaccurate statements trying to claim that this kind of attack would never happen - arguing that because Compact Blocks are smaller than SegWit blocks (30kb vs 750kb), this would disincentivize such an attack. But Peter Todd pointed out that DISINCENTIVIZING NON-MALICIOUS MINERS from doing this is not the same thing as PREVENTING MALICIOUS MINERS from doing this - because the difference between 30kb vs 750kb would obviously not prevent a malicious miner from performing this attack.
Other people have also pointed out that by discarding the fundamental definition of a "bitcoin" from Satoshi's whitepaper ("We define an electronic coin as a chain of digital signatures"), SegWit would open the door to various new failure modes and attack vectors, by encouraging miners to "avoid downloading the signature data". This could lead to what Peter Todd calls the "nightmare scenario" where "mining could continue indefinitely on an invalid chain" - and people wouldn't even notice (because so many SegWit miners were no longer actually downloading and validating signatures).
Background
This debate is all happening as Bitcoin is about to fork into two separate, diverging continuations (or "spinoffs") of the existing ledger or blockchain, as of August 1, 2017, 12:20 UTC.
All Bitcoin investors will automatically hold all their coins, duplicated onto both forks (Bitcoin-SegWit and Bitcoin Cash). However, in order to be sure you have all your coins automatically duplicated onto both forks, you must personally be in possession of your private keys before the August 1 fork. The only way you can gain possession of your private keys is by moving all your coins from any online exchanges or wallets, to a local wallet under your control - and you must do this before August 1, 2017, in order to guarantee your coins will be automatically duplicated onto both forks. Some online exchanges and wallets (most notably, the biggest exchange in the US, Coinbase) have announced they will refuse to give people their coins on the Bitcoin Cash fork after August 1 - already leading to a mass exodus of coins from those online wallets and exchanges.
DETAILS:
Below is the recent exchange between Greg Maxwell and Peter Todd, where they're arguing about whether the "SegWit validationless mining" attack vector discovered by Peter Todd in 2015 has or has not been solved yet - and where Peter Todd makes the bombshell revelation that it has not been solved:

u/nullc:
This was resolved a long time ago ...
u/petertodd:
Hmm?
1) Your first link doesn't resolve the problem at all - compact blocks do not work in adversarial scenarios, particularly for issues like this one.
2) Your second link - my "follow up post" - is just a minor add-on to the original post, noting that validationless mining can continue to be allowed. Calling it me "saying I thought things would be okay" is a mis-characterization of that email.
[...]
ydtm's scenarios are realistic...
u/nullc:
You have the right answer: we know how to block it, and if abuse happens there would be trivial political will to deploy the countermeasure (and perhaps before, but considering the fact that the same miners that have been most aggressive in holding segwit up are the same ones that still visibly engage in spy mining, it may have to wait).
Remark:
Note how Greg engages in his usual tactics of distortion, half-truths, misquoting people, etc. - in order to spread his propaganda and lies.

Here's the devastating video by Peter Rizun detailing how "SegWit validatonless mining" would decrease the security of the Bitcoin SegWit blockchain / ledger:
Peter Rizun: The Future of Bitcoin Conference 2017
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO176mdSTG0
The main points made by Peter Rizun in that presentation are summarized on one of his slides, reproduced below in its entirety for convenience:
  1. SegWit coins have a different definition than bitcoins, which gives them different properties.
  2. Unlike with bitcoins, [with SegWit coins] miners can update their UTXO sets without witnessing the previous owners' digital signatures.
  3. The previous owners' digital signatures have significantly less value to a miner for SegWit coins than for bitcoins - because miners do no require them [the digital signatures] in order to claim fees [when mining SegWit bitcoins].
  4. Although a stable Nash equilibrium exists where all miners witness the previous owners for bitcoins, one [such a Nash equilibrium] does not exist for SegWit coins.
  5. SegWit coins have a weaker security model than bitcoins.
Here's the blog post by Bitcrust dev Tomas van der Wansem where he describes the same flaw with SegWit - "a simple yet disastrous side effect caused by SegWit fixing malleability in an incorrect manner":
The dangerously shifted incentives of SegWit
https://bitcrust.org/blog-incentive-shift-segwit
SegWit transactions will be less secure than non-SegWit transactions
If the flippening occurs for the 20% smallest (e.g. most bandwidth restricted) miners, a 31% miner could start stealing SegWit transactions!
We cannot mess with the delicate incentive structures that hold Bitcoin together.
Finally, below are four recent posts from me, where I've been attempting to alert people about the serious dangers of the "SegWit validationless mining" attack vector - and the dangers, in general, of SegWit "allowing miners to avoid downloading signature data".
So SegWit would actually destroy the very essence of what defines a bitcoin - because, recall that in the whitepaper, Satoshi defined a "bitcoin" as a "chain of digital signatures".
Note that the "SegWit validationless mining" attack vector could only happen on the Core's radical, irresponsible Bitcoin SegWit fork.
This attack is totally impossible on the original version of Bitcoin (now called "Bitcoin Cash") - because Bitcoin Cash does not support Core's dangerous, messy SegWit hack.
Note:
Many of the people attempting to rebut my claims in the three posts below were totally confused: they apparently thought this attack is about non-mining nodes (what they call "full nodes") failing to validate transactions.
But actually (as Peter Todd clearly described in his original warning, and as Peter Rizun and Bitcrust dev Tomas van der Wansem also described in their warnings), this attack vector involves mining nodes mining transactions without ever validating or even downloading the signatures.
Just read these two sentences and you'll understand why a SegWit Coin is not a Bitcoin: Satoshi: "We define an electronic coin as a chain of digital signatures." // Core: "Segregating the signature data allows nodes to avoid downloading it in the first place, saving resources."
https://np.reddit.com/btc/comments/6qb61g/just_read_these_two_sentences_and_youll/
Peter Todd warning on "SegWit Validationless Mining": "The nightmare scenario: Highly optimised mining with SegWit will create blocks that do no validation at all. Mining could continue indefinitely on an invalid chain, producing blocks that appear totally normal and contain apparently valid txns."
https://np.reddit.com/btc/comments/6qdp90/peter_todd_warning_on_segwit_validationless/
BITCRUST 2017-07-03: "The dangerously shifted incentives of SegWit: Peter Rizun pointed out a flaw in SegWit (discussed by Peter Todd) that makes it unacceptably dangerous. A txn spending a SegWit output will be less safe than a txn spending a non-SegWit output, and therefore will be less valuable."

SegWit would make it HARDER FOR YOU TO PROVE YOU OWN YOUR BITCOINS. SegWit deletes the "chain of (cryptographic) signatures" - like MERS (Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems) deleted the "chain of (legal) title" for Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) in the foreclosure fraud / robo-signing fiasco

A Response to Roger Ver

This post was inspired by the video “Roger Ver’s Thoughts on Craig Wright”. Oh, wait. Sorry. “Roger Ver’s Thoughts on 15th November Bitcoin Cash Upgrade”. Not sure how I mixed those two up.
To get it out of the way first and foremost: I have nothing but utmost respect for Roger Ver. You have done more than just about anyone to bring Bitcoin to the world, and for that you will always have my eternal gratitude. While there are trolls on both sides, the crucifixion of Bitcoin Jesus in the past week has been disheartening to see. As a miner, I respect his decision to choose the roadmap that he desires.
It is understandable that the Bitcoin (BCH) upgrade is causing a clash of personalities. However, what has been particularly frustrating is the lack of debate around the technical merits of Bitcoin ABC vs Bitcoin SV. The entire conversation has now revolved around Craig Wright the individual instead of what is best for Bitcoin Cash moving forward.
Roger’s video did confirm something about difference of opinions between the Bitcoin ABC and Bitcoin SV camps. When Roger wasn’t talking about Craig Wright, he spent a portion of his video discussing how individuals should be free to trade drugs without the intervention of the state. He used this position to silently attack Craig Wright for allegedly wanting to control the free trade of individuals. This appears to confirm what Craig Wright has been saying: that DATASIGVERIFY can be used to enable widely illegal use-cases of transactions, and Roger’s support for the ABC roadmap stems from his personal belief that Bitcoin should enable all trade regardless of legal status across the globe.
Speaking for myself, I think the drug war is immoral. I think human beings should be allowed to put anything they want in their own bodies as long as they are not harming others. I live in the United States and have personally seen the negative consequences of the drug war. This is a problem. The debasement of our currency and theft at the hands of central banks is a separate problem. Bitcoin was explicitly created to solve one of these problems.
Roger says in his video that “cryptocurrencies” were created to enable trade free from government oversight. However, Satoshi Nakamoto never once said this about Bitcoin. Satoshi Nakamoto was explicitly clear, however, that Bitcoin provided a solution to the debasement of currency.
“The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that's required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust.” – Satoshi Nakamoto 02/11/2009
As we’ve written previously, the genesis block is often cited as a criticism of the 2008 bailout. However, the content of the article outlines that the bailout had already occurred. The article reveals that the government was poised to go a step further by buying up the toxic bank assets as part of a nationalization effort! In this scenario, according to the Times, "a 'bad bank' would be created to dispose of bad debts. The Treasury would take bad loans off the hands of troubled banks, perhaps swapping them for government bonds. The toxic assets, blamed for poisoning the financial system, would be parked in a state vehicle or 'bad bank' that would manage them and attempt to dispose of them while 'detoxifying' the main-stream banking system." The article outlines a much more nightmarish scenario than bank bailouts, one that would effectively remove any element of private enterprise from banking and use the State to seize the bank's assets.
The United States is progressively getting to a point where cannabis can be freely traded and used without legal repercussion. As a citizen, each election has given me the opportunity to bring us closer to enacting that policy at a national level. However, I have never had the ability to have a direct impact on preventing the debasement of the United States dollar. The dollar is manipulated by a “private” organization that is accountable to no one, and on a yearly basis we are given arbitrary interest rates that I have no control over. The government uses its arbitrary control over the money supply to enable itself to spend trillions of dollars it doesn’t have on foreign wars. Roger Ver has passionately argued against this in multiple videos available on the internet.
This is what Bitcoin promised to me when I first learned about it. This is what makes it important to me.
When the Silk Road was shut down, Bitcoin was unaffected. Bitcoin, like the US dollar, was just a tool that was used for transactions. There is an inherent danger that governments, whether you like it or not, would use every tool at their disposal to shut down any system that enabled at a protocol level illegal trade. They, rightfully or wrongfully, did this with the Silk Road. Roger’s video seems to hint that he thinks Bitcoin Cash should be an experiment in playing chicken with governments across the world about our right to trade freely without State intervention. The problem is that this is a vast underestimation of just how quickly Bitcoin (BCH) could be shut down if the protocol itself was the tool being used for illegal trade instead of being the money exchanged on top of illegal trade platforms.
I don’t necessarily agree or disagree with Roger’s philosophy on what “cryptocurrencies” should be. However, I know what Bitcoin is. Bitcoin is simply hard, sound money. That is boring to a lot of those in the “cryptocurrency” space, but it is the essential tool that enables freedom for the globe. It allows those in Zimbabwe to have sound currency free from the 50 billion dollar bills handed out like candy by the government. It allows those of us in the US to be free from the arbitrary manipulation of the Fed. Hard, sound, unchanging money that can be used as peer to peer digital cash IS the killer use case of Bitcoin. That is why we are here building on top of Bitcoin Cash daily.
When Roger and ABC want to play ball with governments across the globe and turn Bitcoin into something that puts it in legal jeopardy, it threatens the value of my bitcoins. Similar to the uncertainty we go through in the US every year as we await the arbitrary interest rates handed out by the Fed, we are now going to wait in limbo to see if governments will hold Bitcoin Cash miners responsible for enabling illegal trade at a protocol level. This is an insanely dangerous prospect to introduce to Bitcoin (BCH) so early in its lifespan. In one of Satoshi Nakamoto’s last public posts, he made it clear just how important it was to not kick the hornet’s nest that is government:
“It would have been nice to get this attention in any other context. WikiLeaks has kicked the hornet's nest, and the swarm is headed towards us.” – Satoshi Nakamoto 12/11/2010
Why anyone would want to put our opportunity of sound monetary policy in jeopardy to enable illegal trading at a base protocol level is beyond me. I respect anyone who has an anarcho-capitalist ideology. But, please don’t debase my currency by putting it at risk of legal intervention because you want to impose that ideology on the world.
We took the time to set up a Q&A with the Bitcoin SV developers Steve Shadders and Daniel Connolly. We posted on Reddit and gathered a ton of questions from the “community”. We received insanely intelligent, measured, and sane responses to all of the “attack vectors” proposed against increasing the block size and re-enabling old opcodes. Jonathon Toomim spent what must have been an hour or so asking 15+ questions in the Reddit thread of which we obtained answers to most. We have yet to see him respond to the technical answers given by the SV team. In Roger’s entire video today about the upcoming November fork, he didn’t once mention one reason why he disagrees with the SV roadmap. Instead, he has decided to go on Reddit and use the same tactics that were used by Core against Bitcoin Unlimited back in the day by framing the upcoming fork as “BCH vs BSV”, weeks before miners have had the ability to actually vote.
What Bitcoin SV wants to accomplish is enable sound money for the globe. This is boring. This is not glamorous. It is, however, the greatest tool of freedom we can give the globe. We cannot let ideology or personalities change that goal. Ultimately, it won’t. We have been continual advocates for miners, the ones who spend 1000x more investing in the network than the /btc trolls, to decide the future of BCH. We look forward to seeing what they choose on Nov 15th.
Roger mentions that it is our right to fork off and create our own chains. While that is okay to have as an opinion, Satoshi Nakamoto was explicit that we should be building one global chain. We adhere to the idea that miners should vote with their hashpower and determine the emergent chain after November 15th.
“It is strictly necessary that the longest chain is always considered the valid one. Nodes that were present may remember that one branch was there first and got replaced by another, but there would be no way for them to convince those who were not present of this. We can't have subfactions of nodes that cling to one branch that they think was first, others that saw another branch first, and others that joined later and never saw what happened. The CPU proof-of-worker proof-of-work vote must have the final say. The only way for everyone to stay on the same page is to believe that the longest chain is always the valid one, no matter what.” – Satoshi Nakamoto 11/09/2008
Edit: A clarification. I used the phrase "Bitcoin is boring". I want to clarify that Bitcoin itself is capable of far more than we've ever thought possible, and this statement is one I will be elaborating on further in the future.

A 14-year-old's experience with Bitcoin

First-time poster here, don’t bully me, apologies for the potentially atrocious formatting :) TL;DR at the end
So in the wake of Bitcoin’s explosive rise in value and media attention, I’ve been encouraged by others to share my experience over the past few years as a miner. Here's my story (it's kinda long, you've been warned)

Humble Beginnings

It all started almost three years ago in the beginning of 2015 when Bitcoin flew under my radar. Looking into it, I admittedly wasn’t drawn in because of the decentralisation or the anonymous payments, I was hooked on the idea that anyone could get their hands on some just by running a program and leaving it to do its own thing. I know, how shallow of me. But the idea of making even a bit of money without ‘any work’ was convincing enough for 11-year-old me to do more digging into the matter.
To my disappointment, I soon found out that the era of mining Bitcoins with a PC’s CPU or GPU was long obsolete and instead it was all ASICs at that point.
So that summer, for my twelfth birthday, I got a little ASIC machine for €60, an Antminer U3. This little thing took up less space than a graphics card but could mine at 60 GH/s. Because, at the time, I didn’t have a controller device that could be kept up and running all day long so it could run the program that mined Bitcoin using the U3, I went ahead and got a Raspberry Pi. After setting up the Pi and installing all the necessary stuff (took an awfully long time), I connected it to AntPool and plugged the U3 in. Two days past and the mining pool sent the first Bitcoin I ever received to my wallet (I was using Blockchain.info). It was just 30 cents worth of BTC but I felt a bit of a rush because I was earning a bit of money through this completely new thing and the idea of that was thrilling.
Let’s back up for a second. I just used the term ‘earning’ as if I was profiting, and naive me 2 years ago was no different. In reality, I was at first oblivious to the fact that I was most likely LOSING money overall because of how much energy that little sucker was taking in. But, I was comforted thinking that using that machine was just a practical way of learning about this modern currency and that the loss of several cents’ worth of energy was acceptable in the name of education and learning.
Fast forward ten months to the wonderful summer of 2016. I had recently turned 13 and the Antminer U3 had been running on and off throughout. Various pauses and breaks in mining would be observed, as I had to manually get everything up and running after frequent breaks in the Internet connection. You’d expect my newly-turned-teenage brain to lose interest in Bitcoin as it does with many other gimmicks, but – even surprising myself – I miraculously didn’t. Good thing I maintained interest thinking about it now, not so good at the time for my parents. Why do I say this? I felt like it was time to get a little upgrade in my hardware.

Getting an upgrade

Days passed with me comparing every ASIC miner I could at that price point. It was then I set my eyes upon the Antminer S7 (same folks who did my U3, nice). I had put it up against a plethora of other miners and I figured the S7 was my best bet; the thing costs only about 10 times that of my U3 but could run at 4.73 TH/s, almost 80 times as powerful. The only problem being its power consumption was at 1300 watts, which would put a massive dent in the electricity bill and eliminate any profit I would make. Fortunately, I had a secret weapon up my sleeve – or rather my mum did. She had rented out an office outside our apartment where she would keep files and paperwork. The office’s electricity bill was a flat rate as far as I’m aware and it ended up being my saving grace because it virtually got rid of the “oh no I’m actually going to be losing money because of how much electricity I’m eating up” factor, making this whole hardware upgrade viable.
After convincing my parents, they finally agreed to shell out the requested amount, with the initial investment being paid back with time. I went to a local Bitcoin vendor and purchased 1 BTC for about $665 in cash (sigh yes, I know. $665 dollars). Shortly after, I used about 0.9 BTC to purchase the Antminer S7 and a 1600W power supply for a grand total of $600. The products would be made and shipped from China so I was definitely in for a wait.
A month passes and the package arrives at last. I connected all the wires from the power supply into the S7 and – with great anticipation – I plugged it into the wall to start its first ever run. And what do you know? An extremely loud and high-pitched whirring sound blasted out from the fans on both the power supply as well as the S7. After killing the thing, I questioned my choices. I couldn’t dare put that thing anywhere near my mum’s office in the event it drive everyone in the building absolutely nuts. I was at a loss. However, I soon recovered from my temporarily debilitated state and got working on a solution.
The first idea that came to my mind: change the fans. The stocks fans were by Evercool and spun at around 3000 RPM. The power supply used a small, robust fan that looked like a cube that must’ve spun at extremely high speeds judging by how high the sound it produced was. I got my parents to give me some more funding so I could acquire the replacement fans and I did. Bust. After installation and testing, none of the fans would work. I managed to configure the S7 to connect to my Antpool account and the machine would manage mining for several minutes running at peak performance but ultimately be automatically cut off because of how hot the machine was getting (I’m talking about 80 degrees Celsius kinda hot in that thing). The fans got refunded and I was back to the drawing board.
After combing through some forum posts and videos, I came across this video and a forum post in which people have their mining rigs placed inside a ventilated, muffled cabinet. Undertaking a project like this would be time-consuming and risky but I had no better ideas so I decided to go through with the idea anyway.
Firstly, I sought out a cabinet with suitable dimensions. I managed to get just what I needed at a second-hand IKEA shop. Great. Secondly, I went ahead and acquired some sound-absorbing acoustic foam from a local provider. Fantastic. Finally I had to get a ventilation system going within the cabinet, otherwise, all the hot air would roast the machine alive in there in a bloody mess. With the help of my dad, we found a pair cabinet fans on the Internet that were close to silent but could circulate the air well enough.
Eventually, all the materials came and, with the help of my parents, put everything together. The process took quite long time and we had a couple hiccups along the way, but we got it done and it came out pretty nice.
The moment of truth came and, to my relief, it ran so much quieter than without the cabinet. It was nowhere near silent but it reduced the noise a great deal. Soon after, I got the thing into the office and set everything up from there. Unfortunately, I was forced to underclock it because you could still hear the machine’s whining from outside the thin office door. Gunning the hashrate down about 25% to 3.7TH/s, I could lower the fan speed without risking the machine burning up. Sure, I wasn’t getting the full potential of the machine but I didn’t complain because electricity was not an issue there and it was still a whole lot better than my U3. With it up and running, I could leave it there, periodically checking to see if it was mining on Antpool.

The aftermath

In the months that followed, I was getting a solid $2.5 worth of BTC on daily basis. Half a year later, May of 2017, I had accumulated a satisfactory $600. I thought, “At this rate, I’d be able to pay my parents’ investment back in a few months” (the total investment came close to $900). Bitcoin had risen to over $1500 so I was already over the moon at that point because of how well everything was going. Little did I know…
I hit 0.5 BTC midway through September this year. The price of BTC had dropped after a sudden rise to $5000, but I couldn’t have asked for more. Although I possessed only half the amount of BTC I paid for the machine, its value was over twice that of the initial investment. I thought BTC would level off at around $4000 but nope.
In the month of October, the price skyrocketed. Since September, I had only mined 0.017 BTC but the value was already over $3000. It was just a matter of selling it, but I decided to hodl. Good thing I did.
As of November 5, I have approximately 0.52 BTC mined in total from my S7, valued at $4000. If I were to sell it right now, I’d have a profit of over $3100. And as for my miner, it’s churning out 0.0006 BTC daily, sounds like nothing but it’s still the equivalent of $5 today and I couldn’t be happier, at least with the miner and Bitcoin.
You remember that $665 for 1 BTC that I mentioned earlier? In hindsight, it would’ve been such a better idea to just keep that one Bitcoin and not do anything with it until today (in the interest of making much more money), as I’d theoretically have upwards of $7000. The idea of that still haunts me sometimes if I dwell on it too long but knowing that I’m in possession of an already hefty amount, the pain of it had numbed slightly. It’s not all doom and gloom for me from the exponential increase in Bitcoin’s value, however. Those first $0.3 payments from my humble little U3 all those years ago now are now the equivalent of over $6 today!
Bitcoin and everything it encompasses has been and still is a journey of discovery and an adventure. Looking back, starting with a modest €60 Antminer U3 to having a sum of Bitcoin equivalent to two extremely high-end gaming rigs (first thing I could think of as a comparison, sorry) has been something I can’t really describe. Through the course of the past few years, I’ve learned more about technology, I’ve unexpectedly gotten insight into economics and business and – of course – I’ve made a lot of money (if I decide to stop hodling that is).
Also, props to my parents for keeping an open mind throughout, I know some parents would be horrified at their kids being involved in something that has been used in some less-than-savoury ways and it's great knowing mine have been supportive all the way.
TL;DR got into Bitcoin mining 3 years ago at age 11 with an Antminer U3 that ran at 60 GH/s, got an Antminer S7 (4.73TH/s) and built a sound-muffling, ventilated cabinet for it. Am sat here today with $3000 profit if I decide to sell right now.
